Atwater's porter pours deep mahogany-brown with a bashful russet head. Rich with dark roasted coffee, the aroma floats into sweet vanilla extract overtones. A pleasant, flavorful mixture of soft roasted barley and fresh roasted nuts begin the swallow, but the beer finishes syrupy with vanilla flaovrs that saturate the mouth and last deep into the aftertaste. The beer is simple and ultimately dominated by the vanilla sweetness that overwhelms the palate. |
