American Pale Ale
ABV: 6.5%
IBU: 60
RATING
88
Dale's is one of only a handful of pale ales sold in cans, a vessel that protects the beer from light and oxygen for added stability. A sniff from the firm, tan head yields a varied aroma, displaying a healthy dose of caramel sweetness along with a resinous, floral hop presence bolstered by a surprising alcohol tingle on the nostrils. Toffee and caramel flavors march in on the beginning of the swallow, heavy and sweet. Aggressive hops emerge as well, citrusy, sticky, and spicy with an elevated level of bitterness. For the most part, the tastes play well on the palate, but a mild, musty quality seems out of place and somewhat distracting. Dark gold and full-bodied, this beer has mild carbonation and a stiff alcohol presence.
