The fine people of Missoula are pretty accoustomed to frigid weather, so it's safe to assume they know how to make a good winter ale. This offering has a solid aroma of toasted malts and rich fruits, but the perfectly clear pour gives way to a beer with a flavor that is not terribly rich or filling. The hops come through in the flavor, but don't provide much bitterness or aroma. Powder Hound finishes clean and crisp with good carbonation, and while it's not the most warming or filling winter beer on the market, it's perfect for those not looking for a liquid meal. |
