ABV: 8.7%

RATING
95
While this sought-after ale is technically Brooklyn Brewery's winter seasonal beer, it's such a good example of a stout, we just had to include it in our stout reviews. With its high alcohol content, Black Chocolate is a perfect candidate for aging -- our particular bottle had been aged since 2004, so we felt privileged to try such a rare beer. When you finally open your bottle, you won't be disappointed: This brew is certainly black, and it isn't lacking in the chocolate department. The aroma is full of cocoa and dark chocolate scents with just a hint of Northwestern hops, while the flavor is malty and rich with more cocoa notes and some roasted undertones. Delicious and well-crafted, this ale appeals to chocoholics and beer buffs alike.
