Martin Luther once said," The best drink known to man is called Einbecker Beer," and he was certainly on to something. One of the lighter-colored black lagers reviewed, Einbecker has a deep brown color and a tan head. Its rich aroma is slightly skunky, but it's primarily the roasted barley that comes through in the bouquet. The flavor's skunkiness is minimal despite the green bottle, and the clean, bready flavors with toasted undertones are pleasant. Smooth and soft on the palate, this beer dries out slowly in the finish. This all comes as no surprise, though: Einbecker has been brewing beer since before the 15th century (they have a sales receipt for their beer from 1378), so they know a thing or two about brewing good lagers.
