German Pilsner
ABV: 5.0%
IBU: 30
RATING
90
EKU distributes many brands throughout the United States (you might associate the brewery with its famous eisbock, EKU 28), but don't sleep on this pilsner and its clean taste. The noble hop flowers are the first noticeable aspect of this beer: They're fresh and give off a clean aroma. The German noble hops are very distinct, and this beer is a good example of how they should smell. The malt flavor is minute in the aroma, but comes through much stronger in the taste -- perhaps that's why the body left us wanted more hop bitterness and flavor. This beer's color is brilliantly clear yellow with a fine rocky head, but it didn't seem to hold in the aroma very well. Nevertheless, EKU Pils is a classic, appetizing example of a German pilsner.
