This was the freshest smelling beer we had all month. The hops didn't just exhibit the standard citrus flavors of grapefruit and lemon, but they also delivered some mild strawberry notes and a grassy, earthy flavor -- maybe the brewery's claim that it uses 43 diffferent hops isn't pulling our leg after all. This beer has a great head and a wonderful hop flavor as well. We wanted a slightly stronger malt backbone to stand up to all those hops, but what was there lingered well. This IPA is very soft and not terribly crisp, but then again, an ale with this many flavors needn't be crisp, just refreshing. |
