Fresh-hop beers are a fairly new occurrence in the brewing world. These beers are only brewed during the hop harvest (September), and because brewing with hops picked so recently is difficult, they are seldom brewed in large enough quantities to justify a bottling run. Lucky for us, Port Brewing has finally made enough of their High Tide this year to bottle it for the first time. We aged our bottle for a few months to help the hops blend seamlessly, and when we opened it, the aroma was still strong with green hops. This IPA had a minimal head, which was surprising given the amount of hops used. The taste had a mild hop flavor and bitterness and a very easygoing malt profile. For an IPA it was very clean and refreshing, and would make a great accompaniment to spicy burgers.
