Doppelbocks are, by nature, much stronger than traditional bocks, but their alcohol content isn't the only thing that's increased: The malt in doppelbocks is bolstered as well. If you like your malt complex, sample an Ettaler Doppel. The aroma is multifaceted, bearing essences of dark fruits, and the beautiful cherry brown color is easy to appreciate. Molasses, licorice, and cherries are obvious in the taste, and the hops are noticeable, even given their backup role. This lager is very warming, so although bocks are brewed for springtime, we recommend trying this one before it gets too warm outside. |
