ABV: 5.5%
IBU: Unknown
RATING
91
This well-made German hefeweizen starts out in a very unassuming way. While yeast flavors dominate in this style, Hale's has kept the estery flavors in check. That isn't to say that this ale is plain; simply, the yeast character wasn't overdone so the natural flavors could be experienced and enjoyed by everyone, even those who aren't in love with the fruitiness. The aroma is slightly more pungent than the flavor, but both are moderate. The wheat in this beer has a large presence and lends some acidity to the final product, but the banana flavor is the most obvious feature, making for a simple, elegant taste. This brew is a great place to start if you are just getting into the style.
