If you live on the West Coast, consider yourself lucky: Not only are there more craft breweries on the West Coast than anywhere else in the coutnry, but most of these breweries have been at it longer so they've had time to perfect their beers and experiement with new ones. Alaskan is one of those breweries. This is the brewery's flagship beer, and after your first taste, it is obvious why. With a malt-dominant profile and noble hops playing a complementary role, this is a very standard but good altbier. Citrus isn't the typical hop flavor of altbiers, but this one has a hint of it peeking through. There aren't a lot of breweries in North America that attempt to brew this style, so we're glad Alaskan does such a fine job of it.
