ABV: 5.5%
IBU: 26
RATING
89
Although this beer could possibly be reviewed as a porter, it was simply too good to leave behind. Road Dog, which the brewery claims is brewed using centuries-old Scottish brewing methods, starts with deep malt flavors that are as clean as they are strong. Coffee and chocolate make up the most apparent flavors with a mild roasted smell entering your nose as your drink. The deep brown color is slightly darker than other Scottish brews, but the woodiness is right on target. A simple sweetness finishes this beer, washing over the hint of bittering hops. The body was moderate and the carbonation was perfect for this style.
