People have been getting their water from the fresh Abita Springs for centuries, so it's clear why this location, just a half hour from New Orleans, is a great place for a world-class brewery. At this brewery, the water also just happens to be perfect for making brown ales. Abita's brewers don't treat any of their brewing water, so its mineral content is good for the darker malts. When you open this brew, the fresh, bready aroma and toffee flavors meet your nose. Your mouth will be greeted by chocolate flavors, underscored by roasted tones. The body is thick, though the carbonation is slightly too low. Simple hop nuances finish off this beer, and overall, it ends up being a very enjoyable brew. |
