ABV: 5.8%

RATING
88
Backcountry Brewery might not be known for producing a lot of beer, but the team in Frisco always makes a consistent, quality product. It has brewed this creamy porter for several years now, and a cult following for the brew has slowly emerged. The aroma has a pleasant mix of American hops, espresso, and cream followed by citrusy hops. Its flavor is accented by the same tasty hops, but really shines with sweeter malts and roasted flavors. The carbonation level is just a bit too high, but the beer still has a reasonable, moderate body. It would perhaps fit the style better if the robust malt left more residual sugars in teh beer. Overall, Peak One isn't a bad beer to pick out this winter when you're stocking the cellar.
