Old Ale
ABV: 14.5%
IBU: 41
RATING
95
This beer is intense beyond words and should be treated with great care, or you might find yourself under the table. It does little to hide its strength, showing off its bourbonlike aromas with vanilla, toasted wood, and a wallop of alcohol with great pride. With that, Samael's Ale is just getting started, as your first sip will clearly demonstrate. The flavor is a pleasant mingling of plum, raisin, caramel, and vanilla, yet it's somehow not cloyingly sweet or sticky in character. This is simply a massive beer; full-bodied plus insanely high in alcohol and with very low carbonation (of maybe the alcohol killed that part of our palate). This is a true sipping beer, best enjoyed with a few friends to help carry the load.
