For avid beer enthusiasts, this beer is fighting an uphill battle from the beginning, with its pink -- dare we say sexy -- short cans evocative of an energy drink, proudly featuring a silhouette of a woman blowing a kiss. We checked; it really is a beer. Based on Wittekerke's white beer, the brewers added "flair" by incorporating raspberry juice, which lends color, aroma, and a whole lot of sweetness. In fact, this beer drinks more like a soda than a beer, with sugary sweet flavors bursting throughout the drink and well into the aftertaste. All thigns considered, this beer isn't bad -- really. There just isn't anything beerlike about it: not hops, no malty sweetness, no alcohol noted. What is noted is an intense burst of berry, assertive tartness, and fizzy carbonation. |
