Smuttynose pours thick and very dark brown with a creamy, tan head. The robustness starts in the nose with intense chocolate malt and mild ripe peach highlights. Black coffee, dark roasted grain, and bittersweet chocolate blend together on the tongue for a rich and flavorful swallow. While the hops are understated and slight, there’s a hearty astringency on the cheeks from the grain. Medium-bodied with a smooth alcohol presence, this beer finishes dry with coffee and roasted malt flavors that last well into the aftertaste.
