Erie’s amber-hued flagship brew pours with big bubbles that create a creamy, tan head. The aroma is sweet with touches of honey, caramel, pear, pepper, and alcohol. On the tongue, an initial rush of burnt sugar and dry grain sweetness progresses into a very spicy brew that warms the chest and throat. There’s a fruity, bready yeast quality to the dry finish, which seems a little out of place with the other flavors. Railbender presents a thick body that is heavy and robust, yet still leaves the palate refreshed. |
