With an aroma bordering on delicate, this beer smells of lightly toasted malts and restrained floral hops. For as gentle as the aroma is, the flavor is anything but. Beginning with bready sweetness, it finds a way to impact your entire palate. The back of the mouth picks up some deep umami qualities, whereas the sides appreciate the mild, husky graininess. Kodiak Brown finishes a bit dry, has very low alcohol presence, and a thin body. Hops are hard to find, eventually showing up in the finish and lasting into the aftertaste. With 5% ABV, there’s really no surprise at just how drinkable this beer is. |
