Cuvee Rene
Gueuze
ABV: 5.0% IBU: 16 |
This world-class gueuze is complex and full of flavors not common in beer. It pours hazy; the dark yellow color has orange highlights and a thin, white head. The aroma starts with a punch of brettanomyces, bright and pungent with earthy and lemony notes. The taste is an eye-opening experience, as the lemon-juice sourness on the front of the tongue gives way slightly to tart pears in the end. For as brash as the sourness is, this is a fairly delicate brew with a lot of subtle flavors throughout, including gentle tart wheat and faint grain sweetness. Both complex and refreshing, Cuvée Rene is medium-bodied with fine, tight bubbles and an extremely dry finish. |
