This barleywine’s haze isn’t as thick as yours will be after consuming 22 ounces of this 10.5%-ABV, orange-hued brew. The aroma’s charge of yeast comes through fruity, against a muddled boozy, grapefruit and caramelly, sweet grain backdrop. Its flavor starts with a wallop of caramel sweetness that lasts throughout the drink and into the aftertaste. Floral hops speak up on the sides of the tongue before asserting an intense bitterness. While this beer is big and heavy, it finishes fairly dry, leaving a bit of alcohol heat and bitterness that doesn’t lose its grip. |
