This bright-orange brew expresses one of the most lovely, perfumy bouquets in all of beer. It’s heavily floral, with warm swells of jasmine and just a touch of bready malt humming in the background. On the tongue, however, Avatar asserts itself as an IPA, with classic toasted grain sweetness up front and assertive hop bitterness bristling in the back. The hops and malt have their say before the jasmine swoops in: Peppery, spicy floral notes surge through the swallow and last as you exhale. Jasmine is such a perfect complement to the base brew, adding both delicacy and complexity to a style that can be somewhat blunt.
