Ridgetop Red
Irish Red Ale
ABV: 6.0% IBU: Unknown |
This brew brought home GABF gold in 2009, and though it takes some unexpected turns on the tongue, it’s clear why it’s a winner. Pouring deep copper with red highlights, it wears a creamy off-white head that releases a simple, sweet caramel aroma. The lively liquid surges over the tongue with grainy sweetness, like a buttery waffle, before lifting into uncharacter-istic pear and passion fruit notes. It’s never overly sweet, but it also doesn’t completely dry out in the finish: A touch of bitter hops kick in at the end, completing a well-balanced swallow. |
