If Alaska’s fresh, vibrant spirit could be bottled, it would taste like Alaskan IPA. A bright, grassy, and slightly resinous aroma and huge caramel wafts ascend from this clear, deep gold brew. This IPA really explores the style’s possibilities. Light caramel swims over the tongue, followed by grassy, citrusy hop bitterness. Underneath the dominant hop presence, subtle qualities not always expressed in the style emerge: Very light toast supports the malt foundation in the middle of the swallow while green apple esters brighten up the lingering bitterness in the finish.
