The Bruery’s seasonal, slightly lighter take on its Saison Rue pours a cloudy, dark wheat hue with a rocky, white head. Spicy white pepper fills the nose while an earthy essence deepens the aroma. On the front of the tongue, bready malts make an appearance, followed by a wave of spices that take charge: Pepper, coriander, and orange peel are the most notable. Mid-sip, a playful tartness rises up before heavy bitterness from the spices drives the beer into the finish; a bit of alcohol warmth illuminates in the chest. Finishing dry, the brew’s a spice-inspired take on the traditional farmhouse beer. |
