Gentle chocolate and roasted nut scents (and no obvious hops or alcohol) comprise the aroma of this big, russet-headed brew. Bread-crustlike malts lead the way in the flavor, along with an acrid peanut skin taste that lasts into the aftertaste. The hops are citrusy and contribute more bitterness than the style calls for. While the flavors and aroma could be more pronounced and the thin body made fuller, with its very low alcohol presence, drinking more than one of these reds is no chore. |
