This beer sells itself from the glass with its clear, enticing orange hue and a bright white head. The scent beckons, too: 471 bursts with piney hop aromatics, like a fresh pine forest with light berry esters and toffee scents carried on the breeze. While an initial toffee flavor smoothes over the palate, it’s quickly enveloped by piney bitterness that transforms into resinous hop flavors with a pithy grapefruit bite as it washes back. Beneath these hop flavors and intense bitterness, some toffee sweetness peers through on the back of the tongue, but this beer is undoubtedly hop-forward, finishing dry with lingering pine and citrus on the tongue. |
