Oskar Blues’ newest year-round brew is, essentially, hop juice. Pouring slightly hazy, the beer unleashes huge piney and citrus hops that reach the nose with a tightened fist, as a jab of alcohol heat intensifies the punch. On the front of the tongue, toasted bready malts with toffee accents lay the foundation for a juicy hop tsunami. Gubna delivers heavy hop flavors that align with the beer’s intense bitterness: Grapefruit-spiked, resinous hop flavors stick to the tongue, and just when you think the sticky will survive, a mix of bitterness and alcohol scrapes the tongue clean. |
