Golden amber with a creamy white head, Big A exudes a compelling hoppy aroma: Grapefruit is prominent, but the floral quality—somewhere between lilac and rose petal—isn’t shy. Light toffee threads sweetness into the bouquet, complementing the hops. Toasty malts and toffee sweetness settle on the tongue first, then blend with grassy hops mid-sip. A strong bitterness builds throughout the drink, but this beer remains fairly compact on the tongue, making it a fun, exploratory imperial IPA. Eventually, bitterness overtakes the mouth, cutting through all flavors except for light lingering grapefruit notes. |
