Mad River Brewing Company is pleased to announce the launch of their 2009 seasonal program with the release of “Serious Madness”. On February 13th, 2009 we will release the first edition of our brewers continuing madness with an often overlooked rarity, a black ale, the fittingly named "Serious Madness."
Anchored by our harvest release, the annual John Barleycorn Barleywine, our seasonals will continue throughout 2009 with three additional, limited edition handcrafted ales, each released at the change of the season. As they are released each seasonal will be available in a pack of Four 12 Ounce Bottles and distributed nationwide.
Serious Madness will also be available on draft in some markets, and as always in the Mad River Brewing Company Tasting Room where you can find all of our fine ales, including specialties and seasonals.
Our Tap Room and Brewery are located at 101 Taylor Way in Blue Lake, CA just minutes from the junction of the 101 and 299 North & East of Arcata, CA.
Tasting Notes:
Serious Madness Black Ale is a high gravity black beer built on a foundation of our house Two-Row Pale Malt augmented with North American Specialty Malts & German Carafa, fermented with our signature ale yeast.
This black ale is bittered with Magnum hops, flavor and aromatics are enhanced by Hallertau and Tettnanger with Willamette hops utilized for added aroma in the hop back.
This beer is inky black with amber edges, light bodied, silky smooth, complex, delicious, and dangerous...
Not for the meek and timid this beer ferments out at a gratifying 8.6% ABV and 75 IBU's.
